The writing assignment for this term is for you to simply begin a research project. The first step to any research process is really to come up with a topic and look up articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Since this is an introductory class, you only have to review one.
You are required to find one scientific journal article on a criminological topic. You are to review this article according to the rubric included in this module. Directions have been included to conduct a search for a journal article. Please make sure to include the PDF attached to the drop box. A hint to finding an article is that they have an abstract.
You are free to choose your own topic. You may be interested in the opioid/heroin crisis. You may be interesting is police brutality. It is your choice. However, the article must be from a respected scientific journal that is peer-reviewed by other experts in that field.
Book reviews and law cases are not considered scientific, so they cannot be used for this assignment. If you are unsure on the article, please send me the PDF, so I can double-check it for you. There are three pre-approved journals listed with the article search directions that you can download.
Approved Journals ( must use one of these three)
